I hope you are doing well. My name is Mackenzie Cranna and I am a Marketing and Events Intern for Champions for Philanthropy, (https://www.championsforphilanthropy.org), an organization that assists professional athletes and other influential individuals with accomplishing their philanthropic goals. 

I would like to invite you and your students to join us for Champions Conversation: The Effect of COVID on Community Relations, a virtual event we are hosting with sports industry professionals to discuss the pandemic’s effect within Community Relations.  The featured speakers, including  Christina Hovestadt (NFL), Courtney Lapsley (Memphis Grizzlies), and Noelle Bailey ( LA Dodgers), will share the challenges they have been facing and how they’ve been able to adapt and overcome recent obstacles brought on by the pandemic.

Virtual Q&A: Sports Coverage during COVID

Three sports journalists will be joining us to answer your questions and to talk about their experiences in the field during this unprecedented time. Here’s some background info on each: –Terence Moore: Moore graduated from Miami in 1978 and is now a well-known sports columnist and sports commentator. He was a general sports columnist for the Atlanta-Journal Constitution for 25 years. He now writes for CNN.com, MLB.com and SportsonEarth.com and contributes to CNN, MSNBC and ESPN

. –Emily SimanskisSimanskis graduated from Miami (SLAM) in 2019 and served as sports editor at The Miami Student newspaper for three years. She’s worked as a side reporter for ESPN, a digital media intern for the Denver Broncos and a social media intern for the Carolina Hurricanes. She now covers high school sports for The Sheridan Press in Wyoming. –Marissa

McNees: McNees graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2012. She was a freelance sports reporter for The Detroit News from 2012 to 2016 and then joined The Morning Journal in 2016 as a sports reporter, covering the Indians and Browns, as well as college and high sports. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in sports PR, marketing and journalism.  If you’d like to join us, please fill out the Google Form below, and you’ll be emailed the Zoom link and password.
